Complete your application: From account setup to submission

Start your journey by establishing your account and completing the application. Once your application is ready, manage and finalize it, then submit your application along with the required fee to the Office of Admissions.

Create your account

Follow the instructions on the account creation form and click the "Create Account" button to get started.

Complete your application

  • Select your application type and the entry term you plan to start at Iowa State, then click "Start New Application."
  • You can complete your application in multiple sessions. To save your progress, click the "Save" button at the bottom of each page. To move from page to page, click "Save and Continue." Required fields must be completed to proceed. Follow on-screen instructions to ensure your information is saved properly.

Manage your application

The application page provides details about your application’s status, including application type, entry term, last saved date, and current status.

  • In progress: The application can still be edited and submitted.
  • Under review: Your application has been submitted and is being reviewed.
  • Expired: The application period has passed. Please create a new application for a future term.

Finalize and submit your application

  • Carefully review your application before submitting, as changes cannot be made once submitted.
  • On the final page, click "Finalize and Submit," then provide your payment details on the following page. Your application is not complete until the application fee is paid and processed.
  • Once submitted, you will receive a confirmation email from the Office of Admissions.

Pay your application fee

You may pay the application fee online via credit card (VISA, MasterCard, or Discover).

Note: Your credit card information is encrypted and is not stored by the Office of Admissions.

Close your browser

Once you’re finished, close your browser window to securely end your session and clear your password.

Social Security Number (SSN)

Providing your Social Security Number (SSN) is requested for Iowa State University’s student records system. While your SSN is not required for admission, it is necessary if you are applying for financial aid, as mandated by federal law. Failure to provide an SSN may result in delays in processing your application.

Your SSN is used by Iowa State for purposes such as financial aid, internal verification, administrative processes, and legally required reporting to federal and state agencies. The confidentiality of your SSN is protected under federal and state laws, and it will not be disclosed without your consent unless required by law.

Definitions

Sex: Refers to a person’s physical attributes related to sex traits and/or physical anatomy. Intersex refers to individuals born with atypical variations in their reproductive or sexual anatomy, chromosomes, or hormonal patterns. Iowa State is required to collect and report this information for institutional, state, and federal reporting.

Gender identity: Refers to a person’s internal sense of their gender, which may or may not align with the sex assigned at birth. Submission of this information is voluntary.

Pronouns: Pronouns are non-proper nouns used to refer to individuals without using their names. Providing this information is voluntary.
